Title: Loneliness
A swan in the early morning, sole witness of my contemplating glaze at this moment of the day. Witness, but also icon of my own loneliness. In the traditional, romantic pictures of the tormented artist – evidence of his talent ? – this loneliness is put forward, sometimes glorified. It is true, creation deeply needs to throw the world away, with all the people in it. Introspection, loneliness are necessary for an artist to work. Face to face with himself, his work is like an ordeal that will confront his conscience with his being in the world. The main question will then be what state of consciousness he wishes to deliver, through his art, to the world, to the people. With the cultural background he’s got (museums, meetings, art shows), he is challenged to find his way, his “style”, which is nothing more to me than the part of loneliness that makes him real.
But, finally, if I express myself, it is because I need people. It is then a modest, worried loneliness that is shared, offered in my art work. In that way will come the awareness that at the end, I won’t be alone anymore.
