 Title: torrid emotions
Why paint ? Painting is my quest. Not the quest of myself (who am I ?), but the quest of the way I deal with other people and the word around me. My “being” in the world is what I would like to share with people, through this particular medium. A way, a reason to live that does not tell everything about me, but displays a large part of my feelings, my emotions. If I manage to touch the soul of others, what a happiness in itself ! This purpose is often served by explanation, comments, and that’s a pity. Of course you can analyse, even beyond what the artist wanted to say. But the essential act remains to share, to “contaminate” emotion. An admiration shout, or a silent contemplation, more than a speach, will be the artist’s reward. Why seek to undertand when - without any precise reason - the painting touches you, invades your soul with a rare fulfillness... In this november oil on canvas, I have painted within two states of mind. A peacefulness which translates into a smooth layer, with a gradation of yellow and red. Afterwards, a moment of riot of colours and energy, very physical, that made me upside down for a while. With your permission, I will quote here Kandinsky : “The Red, as we can imagine, like a colour without boundary, typically hot, acts inside like a very lively colour, hectic, that has nonetheless not the carefree caracteristic of the Yellow that disappears in every corner, but gives you the effect – in spite of all its energy and intensity – of the powerfulness of a large force almost conscious of its own goal ”.
