Trinity
Triptyque, trinity, three. It is with this number (and perhaps the letter “T”) that this painting was created. Three layers (the first, impasto, and two others with the knife), three powerful colours (yellow, red, orange), three yellow (middle, light, lemon), three canvas, thee shapes in each one, three squares to discover, three parties involved : you, me, and the painting. Each of them is alone, authentic, but can not express anything by itself. The sense of it all comes from the combination of the three.
The presence of the emptiness, between the three canvas, is - may be - the core of the painting. This space, behind, may be in fact in front, and is plainly part of the play between horizons, coated layers. What is the predominant element, the one that frames, the one that is hidden ? The square shape, cut in pieces in the center, is not so evident. And what if the emptiness was also the main shape...? (oil, 2006, three canvas 100 cm x 50 cm)
