The figuration has its constraints. The abstraction looks like freedom. But it requires more rigour, it is more demanding. The landscapes of the Marne, by their colors, their contrasts, were my guides in the exploration of this world. The quest is constant, inexhaustible, and my doubts, as a man, as an artist, are - and must be - permanent.

The Marne is a river which, before throwing itself in the Seine, rolls up the city where I live, Saint Maur. In preserved places, it offers sumptuous sights in any season, with changing moods and colors. Its banks are lively or peaceful, constantly bathed with captivating lights. The feelings the painter is looking for are here, really true.

My oil on canvas on Paris were painted in the district where I lived nearly ten years, around the Jardin des Plantes (Latin Quarter). Magic of the roofs landscape, traditional cafés of the Contrescarpe square, banks of the Seine river, captivating lights in the leaves of the centenarian trees.

The sea shores have always attracted the painters, in these particular places where skies and grounds are so close to each other that they can merge. Brittany, in Finistere, where I can get back in touch with myself, is an authentic source of inspiration.
